shownotes for episode 20 - schlepping your wares on Ebay

Selling online with Ebay - Advice from an amateur - please remember that this is just friendly advice - I have no affiliation with or training from Ebay.

Recommendation - sign up with Ebay - it's free. Look for things that you would be interested in purchasing - take note of people's choice of category that it is listed in.  Take note of the photos - just one? Many? Are they compelling? Take note of the seller's description, their shipping charges, and their feedback rating.

Once you have a feel for it - take a look around your sewing room and ask yourself, 'can I turn some of the items I am no longer in love with into a little money with which to purchase stuff i AM in love with??'  That is the key to casual selling on Ebay.  Don't think about how much money you could make - but just concentrate on cleaning out the old stuff and getting a few sheckles for it at the same time!

Some helpful things for easier selling...
Take lots of photos - make sure they are clear - if you blog, then you already can!

Find an online source to host them.  That's just fancy for Flickr or for Picasa web albums (my choice).  I also love Picasa as a photo organizing system on my computer. Once uploaded to the web album - you can either get the html for embedding a slide show of all of your images directly into your item's description (in addition to the 1 free photo given in your Ebay listing).  PICTURES SELL! You can also use the html for a single photo and add it to your listing (instead of a slideshow).

Use the turbo lister from Ebay - you can create a template to use again and again - saves a lot of time!

Oh and remember - be nice to your buyers - they could be a friend of yours and you don't even know it!

AND definitely - don't charge anymore more for shipping than your actual cost of shipping. Would you want to pay for it??

I will certainly answer any questions you have - but give me a bit of time for responding - super busy movin' lady right now!!

Oh and consider yourself lucky that I am not sharing any more of the diaper rash than I already have!!

Apparently, I am supposed to follow through....

And actually POST the shownotes that I speak of during the podcast, geesh, you learn something new every day!

Here are the pictures of the Civil War Quilt paper piecing progress...

This is the back of the block I posted last week! Remember the dime?

Here is this week's block: My joints definitely could have been better, the white stripes should match up...

I love the texture you get with paper piecing

Whoops! I guess this is why the joints didn't line up, I put it together wrong!  Am I going to fix it?  NOPE!!

I super duper promise to post examples of chipboard and other cool stuff VERY soon!

Shownotes for Episode 17

OK - here is the infamous (?) block with the tiny tiny square in a square center... It is from the Civil War Book page 86/87 and the block is titled 'Gardening'

The top photo shows my 'tip off the old podcast' for this week - using a small water spritzer and a wooden iron on your foundation paper piecing. With Carol Doak's paper - the printing bleeds when spritzed - not too bad, but it does. With some non-descript paper that I must have purchases from J. Hittle; no bleeding. Go figure.

Also - do use the add an eighth ruler! It really cuts down on bulk!

If you are interested in EQ6 - then this is the best price I found.... You need to add it to your basket for the discounted price to show up...

Book-e-Pod A Great Japanese embroidery book. You can find it at this ETSY shop .

Shownotes for Episode 15 - NOTIONS!

Here is a photo of majority of the notions I spoke of during the podcast...

please note that the picture above includes the tip off the old podcast - the homemade bias tape wrapped around a tp roll!

Below: The blue 'scalpel' like object - yes - awesome! (link is for a metal one, even better!)  The clover glue stick (green cap) - yes - not awesome!  And a photo of the wooden pencil without a led?? Wow, I really need to work on my descriptive abilities! As well as the sandpaper paddle.
The tweezers from EK Success.

NOTE: I HAVE NOT PURCHASED FROM THESE WEBSITES MYSELF - THEREFORE, I CANNOT SAY WHETHER THEY ARE SUPER GOOD OR NOT:)

The chalk mechanical pencil set that I like a lot...  Curious about this though...

FABRICS! the luscious fabrics from a Quilter's Dream Interview

I keep checking Stephanie's website everyday and she is not yet selling online...  Probably a good thing - because, as evidenced in these photos, I simply cannot help myself!
